According to Twitter's co-founder, Biz Stone, Twitter is looking at rolling out commercial accounts to encourage users to pay for premium services. Like Facebook, Twitter has been storing user data and could make those analytics available to business users at a cost. Don't worry! According to Stone, "Twitter will still be free for everybody and we'll tell them to go crazy with it, but we've identified a selection of things that businesses say are helping to make them more profit." -Kim-Mai Cutler and Matt Marshall, Digital Beat

I say it's about time and it looks like they are actually putting some thought into how they can make money in new ways, rather than the old-fashioned, but effective online advertising model. Other things Twitter could do would be to give businesses a way to "certify" their brands and help prevent brand-hijacking. Read the Full Story
